Kate Upton for Complex
Mondays are fun again
Made it out to ComicCon on Saturday thanks to some complimentary passes from my good friends at Warner Bros. It’s really interesting to see the many different things on display that bring people out to this event. For some, it’s the free promotional swag. Others, meeting their on line significant others for the 1st time. For most, it’s the celeb sightings. Maybe you caught Justin Timberlake and Danny DeVito strolling through the convention before ducking into the VIP rooms for important people refreshments. For the die hards, you waited in line for 4 days just to get a good spot to see your favorite vampire or werewolf at the Twilight panel. For me, it was the free ticket.
Me n’ my crew walked downtown and got to the convention center by 1pm. I was ready to leave and grab some 2 in 1 burritos at Lolita’s taco shop by 3:30pm. Not much really caught my eye this year – I think all the Summer “blockbusters” I care about are already out, I use my xbox as a netflix player and Olivia Munn doesn’t host AOTS anymore so… I wasn’t really interested in much, until I saw this dude:

Marc Ecko. There’s tastemakers, and then there’s him – the guy that knows the top 50 best anythings. I fanned out for a sec; he’s definitely an inspiration to all those in the lifestyle brand hustle. I mean, you go from pushing jersey fit XL Ts to owning 4 clothing labels, a lifestyle magazine and an entertainment company. SWAG. I don’t need an autograph but I’m a big fan.
Fashion finding an in at ComicCon? Well with graphic Ts of your favorite comic book heroes for sale and the countless hours convention goers spend on making their costumes, why not? Makes a lot of sense to us.
Fresh off of Mike Judge’s Comic Con panel, I present to you a sneak preview of the new Beavis and Butthead series:

October, 2011
It’s that time of the year again; Twlight tweeners join forces with Howard Stern heads, Marvel junkies, gamers and channel surfers at the Annual San Diego Comic Con. If you’re not familiar with Comic Con, (1st thing’s 1st, congrats on finally figuring out what the internet is) it’s like Coachella….for people who used to be the President of their high school chess club. I kid! I kid!
It’s day 1 today (day 2 if you’re that aforementioned chess Prez and registered for preview night) but I’ve seen nerdy web content for weeks now leading up to the event. Here’s one of my fav’s (via my friend/videographer/photographer/gamer/techblogger/ Jenny):
Atta way Microsoft! Capitalize on one of the biggest fanboy movements that helped catapult Comic Con to where it’s at today – Star Wars. This IS the droid you are looking for! (sorry, I couldn’t help it)
Available Holiday 2011; game on.
Congrats! You’re halfway to the weeknd; you deserve a reward for reaching this point without causing any permanent damage to your coworkers (hopefully) and your thisfunctional family has just the treat.
Here she is: Ms. (hopefully) Candice Swanepoel.
I know what you’re thinking: “Please, Sir, can I have some more?”. Don’t trip you know we got you.
I’ve never been to South Africa, but I can’t wait to go and enjoy the scenery. Take care now.
It’s no secret; when it comes to Kate Upton here at Planet thisfunctional it’s all 143s. So what’s better than SoBe’s Kate Upton staring contest commercial? Outtakes …gone..wild.
Only Kate can turn outtakes into its very own full fledged shoot. Bravo SoBe; bra-vo.
Some clarifications before you press play:
1 – We’re Alex Morgan fans here (what a goal yesterday!); Offense is just our cup of tea and more importantly, she’s finer than Hope Solo.
..that was actually the only clarification. Congrats JPN; we’ll see you at the Olympics.

Friday night at the movies on your social schedule? It’s a no brainer this week. I mean, production companies are even giving you hints in the movie titles now: Horrible Bosses, Bad Teacher, Winnie the Pooh etc. Like my roommate always says when last call comes around and his conversation with an “If I’m Drunk” 7 is interrupted by a txt msg that previews “I want you deep ins..”, go with the sure thing. And that sure thing, is Tara Reid and Harry Potter: Deathly Hallows 2.
